A small volume of distillate may contain a comparable amount of ethanol as a larger volume of a less concentrated beverage.
40 or 50 ml?
At 40% ABV, 40ml contains approximately 12.6g of ethanol and 50ml contains approximately 15.8g. The difference in portion size is directly reflected in the amount of alcohol.
