How much pure alcohol does the drink contain?
Enter serving size and alcohol percentage by volume. The result describes the amount of pure ethanol in the drink, not the blood alcohol level.
Formula
Ethanol (g) = volume (ml) × ABV / 100 × 0.789. The constant is the approximate density of ethanol.
Comparison
Compare portions in the same units. 500ml at 5% contains more ethanol than 150ml at 12%, even though the wine has a higher ABV.
